Minsun Choi

Minsun Choi, a native of Seoul, Korea, began her violin studies at the age of six. A year later, she recieved the second prize at the Korean Newspaper Competition, which lead her to an invitation to study privately with world-distinguished violin professor, Nam Yun Kim. After winning the Gold Medla and top prizes at such Korean music competitions as Hankook Newspaper COmpetition, Ehwa Kyung-Hyang Competition, and Pusan MBC Competition, she established herself as one the promising Korean violinist in her generation.

Minsun Choi gave solo appearances at Seoul Arts Centre, Sejeong Cultural Centre, and Hoahm Arts Concert Hall before attending Seoul National University in 1998, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2002. In 2004, she came to the U.S. on a full scolarship to continue to her violin studies at the Peabody Conservatory, where she recieved her Master of Music degree and Graduate Performance Diploma. Ms. Choi won first prize at the Corpus Christi International Competition in Texas. She was also awarded a fellowship to participate at the Aspen Music Festival and School where she collaborated in chamber music concerts with principal players from the Metropolitan Opera and Pittsburg Symphony Orchestra.

An active chamber musician, Minsun Choi is a founder of the Hampton Trio who performs frequently in the New York metropolitan area. In fall of 2006, she and her trio made their debut at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall. Minsun Choi is graduated a student of Herbert Greenberg in the prestigious artist diploma program at the Peabody Institute.
